Film Quizzes: Shakespeare Adapations

I’ve been reading a bit of Shakespeare recently and as I haven’t done a film quiz for a while thought I should combine the two for a bumper post. His impact on literature, English theatre and popular culture has been extraordinary, so this film quiz was never going to be conventional. I’ve decided to break it into into two parts, faithful adaptations and those that were loosely based. Which half will you do better on? Do you have a favourite Shakespeare play?

Line(s) of the Day #RomeoandJuliet

Romeo and Juliet book cover

These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triump die, like fire and powder
Which, as they kiss, consume.

As spoken by Friar Lawrence in the eternally iconic play Romeo and Juliet (1597) by William Shakespeare.

Film Quizzes: Leonardo di Caprio Part 1

He may not have won Best Actor at the Oscars yesterday (and big congratulations to Matthew McConaughey), but I was still blown away by Leonardo di Caprio’s performance in The Wolf of Wall Street. He’s had a phenomenal career repertoire that continues to grow. See how many of the six films below you can work out.

Line(s) of the Day

Dire Straits

A lovestruck romeo sings a streetsuss serenade
Laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made.
Finds a convenient streetlight, steps out of the shade
Says something like you and me babe how about it?

Taken from the song ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by Dire Straits (1992)
