Music

Abbey Road cover

I don’t want to see a ghost
It’s the sight that I fear most
I’d rather have a piece of toast
Watch the evening news

Regularly voted the worst lyrics of all time, Des’ree’s attempts will take some beating. Realising what the best lyrics are is somewhat trickier. Below are the lyrics that have really stood to me, as well as a few music-related articles I’ve written. Feel free to suggest any you think would make a worthy inclusion.

  1. A good list of great song writers. I’ll suggest Garbage too for often very complex and imaginative lyrics. Especially Blood For Poppies and Hammering In My Head.

      • You really should. They are pretty much ignored by the mainstream these days which is a real shame as I think there more recent stuff is some of their most complex and imaginative yet. Check out the album ‘Not Your Kind Of People’.

  4. You have a great selection of music but you are missing an essential- Bob Dylan. NOT his new stuff but his older stuff. If you listen to his lyrics, they are pretty awesome!
