He may not have won Best Actor at the Oscars yesterday (and big congratulations to Matthew McConaughey), but I was still blown away by Leonardo di Caprio’s performance in The Wolf of Wall Street. He’s had a phenomenal career repertoire that continues to grow. See how many of the six films below you can work out.
Answers below
1. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)
2. Romeo and Juliet (1996)
3. The Beach (2000)
4. The Departed (2006)
5. Shutter Island (2010)
6. Inception (2010)
Leo is the new Peter O’Tool. He should have won for “The Aviator”, but hey: Hollywood.
I’m still curious how Hitchcock never won an Oscar!!
Or that only one of his movies ever won best picture. Hollywood is a strange place, and the voting academy is even stranger. I read something a while back that the average age of the voting academy for the stuff like pictures and acting and what not is in the 60’s. I think the reason Hitch never won anything is because he was considered an outsider and not part of the studio system, and the people voting on those things were all part of the studio system then. It’s like “How Green Was My Valley” beating “Citizen Kane” for Best Picture. It’s because everyone loved John Ford, and Orson Wells was a pain in the butt who attacked lovable ol’ millionaire William Randolph Hearst, who was friends with a lot of the studio heads. It’s all very political.
I guess how political it can all get, but at least they knew how popular their films were. I’m still so angry when I think how Charles Laughton only directed one film.
6/6 finally. Love me some Leo!
And think of some of the ones I left out! Nice score 🙂
I think Leo should have won best actor for The Aviator
And for getting the film made in the first place!
O, I only didn’t knew the Beach! Yay, I’m getting better! 🙂
And in my opinion, Leo deserves a Oscar for sure. Especially his roles in What’s eating Gilbert Grape and the Basketball Diaries were awesome!
Lots of love ♥
Loved the book when I read it in college but was never tempted to see the film. Have been meaning to re-read it. He really is a phenomenal actor for sure 🙂
The film is definitely worth looking! 🙂
And well done on your best score so far.
Lol thanks! 🙂
All but 3. Which I can’t believe. I’ve seen 3. I should have know it. 🙂
I couldn’t put a Thai beach when the weather is so cold here haha. Don’t worry dude, I’ll be putting up a second quiz on him soon. His films set is amazing.
I got right, 1, 2, and 6 🙂
They’ll be another one up soon 🙂
quizz?
Easy peasy! I love Leo and have seen him in everything. 🙂
Perfect stuff Cindy 🙂 He consistently chooses great scripts and plays them so well 🙂
I got them all except for The Beach! Which is a shame because I liked that film.
Did you get a chance to read the book?
I haven’t read it yet, but so many people have recommended it to me. I wanted to read it before I went to Thailand but I missed out! Have you read it before?
I think Leo was very good in ‘Blood Diamond’. He was so unlike himself. He should have played this ruthless greedy smuggler, but unfortunately you can see all that emotion in his eyes which he can never hide.
There’s nothing he can’t do. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Sweet! Got everything but The Beach, which I haven’t seen.
A great score. Look out for an email btw 🙂
Will do!
Ive seen them all, but I only guessed 4 of 6. Missed The Beach and Shutter Island.
Great idea for a quiz
Glad you liked it. Sorry I missed this first time around.
Oh this was so fun!
I can’t wait to see what roles he takes in the future.
The only one of your quizzes where I got everything right!
I’m a huge fan of DiCaprio.Unknowingly I have watched quite a few of his films!
He really is a superb actor. I hope you are enjoying your break away from blogging but hope you come back soon.
