There is no exquisite beauty…without some strangeness in the proportion.
Legendary Boston-born American writer Edgar Allen Poe (1809 – 1849), who as well as being known for his Gothic style, also helped set up the detective genre.
Serendipity? I just commented on a caragale post about Hannibal that I wonder if Poe would even be phased by the graphic nature of modern television. I remember reading The Tell-Tale Heart as a young man and I can still hear that heartbeat!
Somehow I have managed thirty-five years of life without ever before realizing Edgar Allan Poe died at 40. Huh.
He wasn’t around for too long, and no one’s quite sure the circumstances of his death, but he is one of the literary giants.
I like to read Poe !!
His short stories are incredible. Especially The Tell-tale Heart and Man of the Crowd.

That story is part of popular culture. Have you read much of his other works? I really like Hannibal.
Not much beyond Rayne popular works like The Raven, etc
