In your room
Where time stands still
Or moves at your will
Will you let the morning come soon?
The opening lines of In Your Room by Essex band Depeche Mode from Songs of Faith and Devotion (1993), an album which among other notable successes topped the UK and US charts. I’m a huge fan of the band and saw them live at the 02 a few years ago. They’ve just released their 14th studio album, Spirit, which along with all their other ones has been a UK top ten smash. Other songs I’ve quoted here have been Preciousย and Walking in my Shoes.
I’ve seen them live a couple of times… many years ago. I’ve always been a fan. Some of their songs bring back such memories…
They’re amazing. Which songs stood out most for you? Do you have a favourite album?
Oh… i think overall, my favorite album is probably Music for the Masses. So many songs.. Everything Counts… Blasphemous Rumours… Behind the Wheel… Little 15… Somebody. I’m sure there are more I’m not thinking of at the moment…
Nice choice. Violator or Songs of Love and Devotion are up there. Amazing to think Halo wasn’t even a single. But I’d probably say Ultra. It’s No Good, Barrel of a Gun, Home and The Love Thieves are real standouts.
They have so much great music…!
Love Depeche Mode. Good choice today!
Huge fan of theirs. So much talent. And they have been successful and innovative for so long.
This isn’t a poem? I feel lied toi and mislead. Ha! At any rate great line of the day. Cool band
They really are. So happy to have seen them live. I have 2 t shirts from that night. Couldn’t choose between them.
Very cool
That’s my philosophy. If you can’t decide, have both haha
You should have posted pictures with you wearing both shirts. Given your female readers a thrill ๐๐
I never could get into Depeche Mode, too somber for me, but those are great lines.
They are very reflective which is one of the things I like most about them. But they do have a great range. It’s No Good is great just for listening when driving down a clear road.
I love this song so much, especially with the volume as loud as I can stand it, in my car, while I drive around almost feeling bad for people who don’t know this amazing band.
For sure. I love It’s no good in the car too.
