There simply wasn’t enough space to cover so many great rites of passage films. It is a genre in which Hollywood really seems to revel in. See if you can work out which six films the pictures represent. Feel free to give yourself a score out of six or 18, if you want to add your scores from Parts 1 and 2.
Answers
1. The Last Picture Show (1971)
2. American Graffitti (1973)
3. 16 Candles (1984)
4. The Breakfast Club (1985)
5. Dead Poet’s Society (1989)
6. Mean Girls (2004)
Four out of six on this quiz, not terrible. I have seen “Sixteen Candles,” but I confused it with “Pretty in Pink.”
They were made around a very similar time so an easy mistake to make. Not too bad a score. Funny to think of the careers the main cast of Mean Girls have taken.
4 out of 6!
Not bad. Hollywood does tend to get a high consistency rate of films within the genre.
5/6! Woop-woop! Missed the first one.
Only one i’ve not seen, though been wanting to see it for ages. Nice score.
4/6. Cool, considering I missed the first two.
Lucas is so associated with Star Wars hard to picture him in anything else. American Graffitti wasn’t a bad film really. And the cars were awesome. Those drive ins look great.
4/6 missed The Last Picture Show and Mean Girls (havent seen either) 🙂
Nice. Well done for getting American Graffitti. That was one of the tougher picture clues I have put up for a while.
How could I miss the movie that inspired Happy Days 😉
Ha!
5 for me. Didn’t get 16 Candles 😦
An impressive score. I so need to see The Last Picture Show. What’s up Doc was so funny!
The Last Picture Show is a fantastic film. It’s been a while but I remember really loving it.
Will see it soon 🙂
one… *silence*
You can’t get high score all the time. You’ll do far better next time. I’ll have a think about what the next topic will be.
How did I miss Sixteen Candles?? 🙂
It was a sneaky clue, don’t worry.
Gosh Jeff Bridges was so young! Missed Mean Girls.
Amazing to think how many stars that film ended up having.
I only got Mean Girls right. I LOVED that movie haha
Amazing to think it’s 10 years old. Time flies!!
Oh, I have seen all of these but forgot the title to the first one, but when you gave it, I almost needed to hit my head! Yup, these are ‘rites of passages’ movies that are very iconic. They will be classics someday!
Great score. We all have moments like that when we can’t remember the name of a film. So annoying!
Five out of six! Yay and thanks.
Great score Ann. Have an awesome weekend.
4 out of 6! 🙂 Didn’t get the first 2.
Not a bad score. Do you have a favourite film in the genre?
You got two of my faves up there: Sixteen Candles and Mean Girls 🙂
Solid choices.
I watched the movie Dead Poets Society on New Year’s Eve and have just written a review on it. Beautiful screenplay. Have enjoyed your blog post : )
Thank you 🙂
Got all again! YES! 😉
Awesome stuff! With so many sixes you should either be playing cricket or on a crabs table 🙂
