That book is a work of art for its language alone!
I’ve hardly seen a book, besides Anna Karenina, that beautiful in terms of language and writing style.
I liked the final lines of the novel, along with the one when Gatsby and Nick were driving together: Nick was witnessing the exuberance of Long Island and looked at Gatsby, and thought,”Even Gatsby could happen, without any wonder.” Gatsby truly is a phenomenon!
O yes, very true.

I love this line too https://alexraphael.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/lines-of-the-day-63/
Loved this book!
One of my favourites. What did you think of the film?
I liked the film but to me this is a classic book so I always have a hard time translating my like to the film version.
I reviewed the film here https://alexraphael.wordpress.com/2013/09/11/the-great-gatsby-review/comment-page-1/#comment-3581 but it wasn’t flattering. They’re not always as great an adaptation as The Godfather for sure ha.
True.
The book really does capture emptiness superbly.
love that book and the film was amazing in my opinion 🙂
We disagree on that second point, but definitely agree on the first one. Your bookshelves must be quite something.
what do you mean by that? that I must have some really good books? 🙂
Yes 🙂
Absolutely adore the book. Wasn’t so much a fan of the Baz Luhrman film, however.
You and me both! https://alexraphael.wordpress.com/2013/09/11/the-great-gatsby-review/comment-page-1/#comment-3581

So wonderfully put. I think I’ve read it three or four times. It’s good to know we think alike https://alexraphael.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/lines-of-the-day-63/
