Taken from the incredibly poignant poem For the Fallen by English poet Lawrence Binyon (1869 – 1943). Published in 1914, it is quoted on British memorial services for World War 1, as well as several other countries such as New Zealand and Australia. It seemed fitting to quote it here today, as it is 100 years today since the start of the infamous Battle of the Somme, where over one million men were wounded or killed.
