I put up a quiz recently on one word films, ranging from 1927 to 2014. But that wasn’t enough. There really are so many really impressive ones that I just had to add an extra part. Will you do better than last time? Do you have a favourite of the 15 below?
I haven’t done a film quiz for a long time. After such a long gap there were plenty of categoeis I could have chosen, but as my favourite film of the past few years was Nightcrawler (you can read my review here), it seemed right to chose loners as the theme. There are actually more on screen than you might imagine. Some are harmless, some deadly. Some are charming, some tortured. Please feel free to let me know how you do, if you have any favourites or even if there are any you think could have been added to the list.
There really were too many to fit favourite films into one post. And even then I think of some of the films I had to leave out. Will you do better better than last Part 1? Do you have a favourite among the list here? As always you comments and feedback are more than welcome.
After such a long gap before my recent William Shakespeare quiz, I thought I’d better not leave long before my next one. And I wanted to do an actor who I’ve long respected and admired. I remember Jake Gyllenhaal well from when I first saw him, in the first film in this quiz. I could neither spell or pronounce his surname, but remember thinking just what a future this guy had. I’ve been delighted to see how far along he has come. Do you have a favourite role of his? How did you do this time around?
What if my problem wasn’t that I don’t understand people but that I don’t like them? What if I was the kind of person who was obliged to hurt you for this? I mean physically. I think you’d have to believe afterward, if you could, that agreeing to participate and then backing out at the critical moment was a mistake. Because that’s what I’m telling you, as clearly as I can.
Louis Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) in the film Nightcrawler (2015). You can read my review of this incredible film here.
