Faith: Okay, look — one hand, two hands — put them together and what do they make?Student: One.
Faith: Right! So, Plato tells us we began as circles, and when we strived to be like the gods we were punished, by a thunderbolt that struck us, and cut us, right down, dead center, in half. We scattered to the ends of the Earth, searching and searching for our other half. Now, Plato is saying, that if we just stop, and go with the flow, and follow our destiny, It’ll lead us back to each other.

Marissa Tomei and Gina Maria Trello in the charming romcom Only You (1994), which tells of a young woman’s long-held belief in fate that leads her on an impulsive Italian adventure.

Line(s) of the Day #Serendipity

Serendipity airport scene

I just spent the entire flight staring into the sky thinking not about my fiancé but about this mystery guy I met a million and a half hours ago. A guy I don’t even remember except for this vague picture I have inside my head. It was just a few seconds, a fragment really. And it was like, in that moment, the whole universe just existed to bring us together. That’s why I’m here. That’s why I’m going to let fate take me wherever it wants me to go.

Sara Thomas (Kate Beckinsale) in the romantic comedy Serendipity (2001), as recommended by the lovely Nicola.
