Line(s) of the Day #OneOfUs

ABBA one of us

They passed me by, all of those great romances
You were, I felt, robbing me of my rightful chances
My picture clear, everything seemed so easy

Taken from the song One of Us by Swedish pop group ABBA. It was the first single from their final studio album The Arrival (1981). I’ve posted Fernando and The Winner Takes it All. Feel free to share your favourite ABBA song.

Line(s) of the Day #TheWinnerTakesItAll

ABBA Winner takes it all

I don’t wanna talk
About things we’ve gone through
Though it’s hurting me
Now it’s history.
I’ve played all my cards
And that’s what you’ve done too
Nothing more to say
No more ace to play

Taken from the incredibly powerful ballad The Winner Takes it All by Swedish group Abba, from their seventh studio album Super Trouper. Although denied by its songwriter Björn Ulvaeus, the emotive lyrics are widely believed to reflect the break up of his marriage to fellow band member Agnetha Fältskog.

Line(s) of the Day #Fernando

Fernando Abba

Can you hear the drums Fernando?
I remember long ago another starry night like this
In the firelight Fernando
You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar
I could hear the distant drums
And sounds of bugle calls were coming from afar.

The opening verse of one of Abba’s most loved songs, Fernando. Though not released on any studio album, the single has sold over 10 million physical copies worldwide.
