Line(s) of the Day #AViewToAKill

Duran duran a view to a kill

Meeting you with a view to a kill
Face to face in secret places, feel the chill

Nightfall covers me, but you know the plans I’m making
Still overseas, could it be the whole Earth opening wide
A sacred why, a mystery gaping inside.

Taken from the song A View to a Kill by Duran Duran, from the 1982 James Bond film of the same name. As well as just failing to reach number one in the UK, it remains the only song from the franchise to top the US charts. Is it your favourite film from the series? Here are mine.

  1. Goldfinger will always be my favorite of the theme songs, but my favorite Bond film is The Man With the Golden Gun. Mostly because it’s so silly. I am always the lone voice in the crowd when I say Roger Moore was my favorite Bond, but I loved him for the slightly tongue in cheek way he played the world’s worst spy! (Seriously, he always got caught!)

  2. So many to choose from. I like pretty much all of them I have to admit. I’d say a Top 5 would include Goldenrod, You Know My Name, Live and Let Die and Shirley Has set got to make an appearance. But that leaves Thunderball and Carly Simon and there’s something about Skyfall that has grown on me. Top 10 then. 🙂

    • I did a halfway option and did a Gr8at. The link was in the intro text if you wanted to see it. No surprise it featured a few of yours, including Skyfall. I felt sure another artist had topped the US chart with a Bond song, but no. Only the protest song 19 actually kept it off the top of the UK charts.
