I’ve always been a fan of magic, The powerful to create something using powers that others don’t have for spectacular affect. Though I think Roald Dahl said it best when he explained that those who don’t believe in magic will never see it. How many of the films below can you work out?
Film 1 (1950s)
Film 2 (1970s)
Film 3 (1990s)
Film 4 (1990s)
Film 5 (2000s)
Film 6 (2000s)
Film 7 (2000s)
Film 8 (2000s)
Film 9 (2000s)
Film 10 (2000s)
Film 11 (2000s)
Film 12 (2000s)
Answers below
1. Houdini (1953)
2. Carrie (1976)
3. The Craft (1996)
4. Practical Magic (1998)
5. Spirited Away (2001) – September
6. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) – November
7. The Illusionist (2006) – August
8. The Prestige (2006) – October
9. Pan’s Labyrinth (2006) – November
10. Stardust (2007)
11. Now You See Me (2013)
12. Doctor Strange (2016)
I got only three right 😦
I don’t think anyone will be getting all of these. There will be another one soon, which I’m sure you’ll get a higher score on.
Hope so!
I’m sure of it
One 😦
Was it Houdini?
Harry Potter 🙂
9/12, not bad.
3/4 of the glass full. That’s a stronger score than most will get. Well done.
Oh dear. Only got three of them… Great quiz, though!
This seemed to stump a lot. Next up is foreign films so I’m sure you’ll get a higher score.
I love me some magic. I got 11/12.
Superb stuff Vinnie. Was it the first one that stumped you? I’ve not seen it. The Prestige is my favourite. I’m such a fan of Christopher Nolan.
Have you read the Prestige book, too? I was more of a fan of the film before I read the book it is based on. Then I thought part of the genius of the film was actually taken from the book and my enthusiasm for the film slightly waned 🙂
I’d really like to. I only realised it was adapted when I did the quiz.
No it was Now You See Me that really had me stumped.
I really enjoyed it. I recommend the first one. I even wrote it up of you’re interested https://alexraphael.wordpress.com/2013/09/01/review-now-you-see-me/
Ooh, will bookmark that for later.
11/12… I didn’t know Houdini!
Brilliant score Abbie. You know your magic for sure. Which is your favourite of the 11?
Ooooh tough one. Probably Practical Magic.
I’ve not seen it. I’ll get on it.
What a great quiz! My score is 8/12. I did not get 1, 3, 4 and 10.
Very solid stuff. That first one stumped pretty much everyone.
9/12 – missed Carrie, Craft and spirited away (haven’t seen any of them)
great quiz as always Alex!
Happy you enjoyed it. Spirited Away is a great one for when you get the chance.
10/12 missed Spirited Away and Houdini. In retrospect I should have had a guess at Houdini.
It’s a great score. I wonder if they will remake Houdini one day. Such a fascinating life. A true legend.
Didn’t they do a film about Houdini with Guy Pearce recently?
A few years back. I’d forgotten about that. With good reason mind ha. It did get dreadful reviews.
Great
So happy you enjoyed it 🙂
😘
I got Houdini, Harry Potter & Dr.Strange. Very surprised Witches of Eastwick not on the list!
I couldn’t fit them all in! Well done for getting Houdini. That should be worth triple points considering how few people got it.
Alas, this foreign film junkie has struck out!
Thank you for following one of my blogs.
Look out for a foreign quiz on the next one as talked about before 🙂
Merci beaucoup! 🙂

Bit of an halloween type theme going on with some of these films, not long now these months are flying by.
What will you dress up as?
Well I love fancy dress, I’ve been a Ghost buster, a vampire, a devil and skull carrying witch but there’s no so many opportunities for Halloween parties now I’m out of Uni hehe 🤷🏼♀️, want to stay a child!
Well I know where I’m spending my Halloween ha. Sounds so much fun.
Yahoo! I got a whopping 2!
🙂 And I think you’ll do even better with this one.
