My mother is a teacher so this is a quiz I should have done a long time ago as a tribute to the most patient person I know. The cinema certainly has its own view on the profession. For sure there’s some very inspirational figures in there, plus some types of teachers you wouldn’t get from reading the manuals. Everything from the easily manipulated, to the sinister, badly behaved and lost souls. How many will you get?
Film 1 ( 1960s)
Film 2 (1980s)
Film 3 (1980s)
Film 4 (1990s)
Film 5 (1990s)
Film 6 (1990s)
Film 7 (2000s)
Film 8 (2000s)
Film 9 (2000s)
Film 10 (2000s)
Film 11 (2010+)
Film 12 (2010+)
Answers below
1. The Prime of Miss Jean Broadie (1969)
2. The Karate Kid (1984)
3. Dead Poet’s Society (1989)
4. Kindergarten Cop (1990)
5. Dangerous Minds (1995)
6. Election (1999)
7. Wonder Boys (2000)

9. Mona Lisa’s Smile (2003) – December
10.Notes on a Scandal (2006)

12. Whiplash (2014)
Got a few – 10 out of 12. Will always remember my 3rd grade teacher – gave me so much of her life to make me appreciate knowledge and understand its value! MZ
That’s a fantastic score. How wonderful she is so inspirational. A great teacher really leaves an impact.
Election is one of the funniest movies ever. 😃
And what a hit for Reese Witherspoon. Along with Cruel Intentions and Pleasantville some really big smashes in the late 1990s.
She’s terrific, and really quite adept at comedy. I hadn’t thought about Pleasantville in years. Another great role for her. 😃
An actor gets big bonus points with me if they can do comedy and drama. I hope she does more in the future too.
I’m sure she will. 😊
I love your quizzes! Keep up with them, they’re so fun to do and to test my movie knowledge!
So happy you like them. I’ve done plenty so you’re more than welcome to go back and do others or suggest topics for new ones.
Missed 4, School of Rock is one of my favorites! Also love Kindergarten Cop.
I was wondering if Kindergarten Cop would get a mention. Not seen it in a long time. School of Rock is more popular than ever. The musical has been a big success.
50% right on this one. Missed 1, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. Whoops
I recommend Election. Can you imagine the movies if they swapped the teachers for films 2 and 12? In fact just mixing around all the teachers for different films.
What a fun quiz and a lovely tribute to your mother Alex! I can’t believe it, but I got 12/12! My favorites are: Election, Dead Poets Society, Dangerous Minds, and School of Rock.☺️
Awesome stuff. That’s fantastic. Knew you’d totally ace one of these. Nice choice of films too. Do you think you will see the School of Rock musical?
I would love to see the School of Rock on Broadway. That and Hamilton. Now I just need to win the lottery!🙇🏻♀️
When you do win that lottery make sure you stop off at London.
That will be one of my first stops Alex!🤗
I got Film 3 so I’m bloody brilliant. Didn’t get any of the others.
You teach us a lot in your stories. To the very last line.
You stumped me on a number of these. Only 7/12 this time.
It was a tough one. There were even others I could have included like Goodbye Mr Chips, Lean on Me and The History Boys.
Got 8 so there’s room to improve! Kindergarten Cop always makes me grin like an idiot so thanks for including it on the list.
That’s a 3/4 of the glass full set of answers. I had no idea Kindergarten Cop was so popular here. Haven’t seen it in a long time but did make me laugh when I did.
I got the first four, which tells you something 🙂
Well there are some great movies in that first set.
The Karate Kid, Dead Poets Society, Mona Lisa Smile, Bad Teacher, and Whiplash are all I got.
Some good films in there. Mona Lisa’s smile got some cool reviews so was never too keen to see it though.
Yay 11/12… I didn’t get The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.
Excellent stuff Abbi. I haven’t seen it either. I hope you’ve had some inspirational teachers down the years.
10/12 have never seen #1 and #11. great quiz as always Alex!
Very high score as always Rob. I’ve not seen Jean Broadie or Bad Teacher either.
Got 9 out of them correct.Alex, there isn’t anything that gives me greater joy than reading your post.Hope you are doing well.
That’s a solid score. Do you have a favourite of the ones you’ve seen?Thank you for your kind wishes.
11/12 didn’t get No.1 could probably tell you only one character Mr Miyagi. There’s also To Sir With Love and that one with Edward James Olmos. Thank you to your Mum for all her years of teaching.
A very high score. Yes teachers are everything. I’ve been very lucky to have had some great teachers. They give you more than you realise.
5 of them I have not seen and they’re pretty good one’s too so I should check them out.
Which ones?
School of Rock, Bad Teacher, Whiplash but the one i really want to see is Wonder Boys. Stand and Deliver is the one I was believe feastures Edward James Olmos and Lou Diamond Philips.
School of Rock is such a feel-good film. So many other teacher films I could have put in. Will look out for Stand and Deliver.
Only four as I am a foreign film junkie.
That’s a really good idea for my net film quiz. I’ll let you know when I do it 🙂
I look forward to it and if you need any recommandations, just say the word. 🙂
You’ve given one already. It will be best foreign films. Thanks for the idea.
Lovely, perhaps you can introduce me to a new favorite.
Deal!
I shall look forward to it.
