I have a picture, pinned to my wall
An image of you and of me and we’re laughing and loving it all
But look at our life now, it’s tattered and torn
We fuss and we fight and delight in the tears that we cry until dawn.
The opening lines of the 80s classic Hold Me Now by English pop group The Thompson Twins from their fourth studio album Into the Gap (1984).
One of my all-time favorite songs… π
You have excellent taste π They had some really nice songs but this was their best by some distance really.
I agree. π
What a great reminder of one of my favourite bands from the 80s
I loved this one, and I know You Take Me Up and Doctor Doctor. Feel free to recommend any others you like.
I now have the song in my head! Lol!
You’re welcome π
It is a great opening line. The 80’s was a great era that brought out some of its creative lyrics aswell as instrumental sounds, and the Thompson Twins shone through with theirs. It makes you want to go on a long drive through an open field. Some remind me of a musical. Notably my favourites being Love On Your Side, We Are Detective and King For A Day.
Sincerely Sonea
Thanks for the nice words and recommendations π They were nice songs. I want to drive through an open field right now.
Definitely their best song.
It was their biggest hit. It is delightful. You could easily cover it π
Funny. You say that about a lot of songs. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Maybe one day.
Ah, I love this song, thanks for the throwback! Are you by any chance watching Stranger Things on Netflix? Itβs set in the 1980βs and makes me nostalgic! Not to mention itβs a great show… π
It’s next on my list. Ive been watching watching the People v OJ Simpson. So many shows set back in the 1980s. As well as Stranger Things, there’s The Goldbergs, The Americans, Freaks and Geeks, Everybody Hates Chris…
I just hope the fashion remains a memory! π
There were some absolute shockers. My favourite fashion howler is this one. A year too late ha
Oh the pants and the shoulder pads! Hilarious! Yes, letβs leave those looks in the past!
