John Challis and David Jason in the much-loved British sitcom Only Fools and Horses (1981 – 2003, 2014). Set in East End Peckham, it tells of a poorly educated but hugely entrepreneurial market trader who dreams of getting rich. What other ones do you like? Have you seen one called Yellow Peril?
I’ve seen the whole series. I like the early seasons the best (before the lads get married). The Yellow Peril has my sides hurting, particularly the bit where they all have to wear sunglasses in the kitchen because the walls are bright! Then they paint their mum’s grave with it. I also love the one with Trigger’s granddads ashes. Great series.
Energy saving paint haha. I’ve quoted one of the jokes from that episode in the text. The episode came to him when there was a group of robbers who stole some paint, but one of the jars leaked so the police just had to follow the paint. The butterfly episode cracks me up too, as does the one with the chandelier.
The butterfly one is so funny. Love the bit where they’re in the graveyard and Del’s planning out Rodney’s life and death. So many funny episodes.
Yeah, I quoted that watch joke. It just sums up their relationship perfectly 🙂

My favorite episode is the one where Del and Rodney dress up as Batman and Robin 🤣 Also the one in which they start the business of cleaning chandeliers 😂 Each episode has its own laughs though.
Both great episodes. The butterfly one, locked in the supermarket and the yellow paints are among my faves too.

When Mr O and I first started dating he made me watch loads of old British comedy including Only Fools and Horses. I find it mildly amusing but I sort of think you have to be British to really appreciate it.
It’s delightfully British. They’ve tried remaking it in other countries but with nowhere near the sane success. Does Mr O used the catchphrases? Gordon Bennett, cushti, lovely jubbly etc ha.
Hahaha! Not really. But he does sometimes shout bonnet de douche or say mange tout, mon frere.

One of my favourite quotes that I can think of off the top of my head is when Del follows Rodney to a mansion where Rodney’s girlfriend lives with her family. Del gets involved in the clay pigeon shooting, and someone offers him ear-defenders..
“Would you like these sir?”
“Nah, I can’t listen to music while I’m shooting” 😀 😀
