My favourite sports are football and tennis, but boxing has this raw, primal, violent energy that for me just can’t be replicated. So I was glued to the much-anticipated heavyweight fight between the 41 year-old two-time Ukrainian champion Wladimir Klitschko and the sport’s rising star, 27 year-old Londoner Anthony Joshua. The long-awaited fight lived up to the hype, with both fighters sent flying to the canvas in the opening six rounds after ferocious punches. To celebrate the 11-round epic, I’ve used some photographs collected in The Guardian, with an added mixture of Reuters and Getty Images being used (Richard Heathcote, Ben Stansall, Andrew Couldridge, Tom Jenkins)
Looks riveting
It really was an explosive fight. Sensational stuff. As exciting as any Rocky film.
That’s cool. I’m really glad you enjoyed it
It certainly looked hugely entertaining.
It was. A fight that had everything. Four separate knockdowns.
I’m not the biggest boxing fan, but I do like keeping up with some sport. Isn’t Joshua facing Fury next?
Noting is fixed yet. There may even be a rematch.
Really? I’m not a fan of Fury, he’s got a big mouth.
Among other things Fury is really out of shape. Would be the classic good guy v the villain fight.
I take it you’re not his biggest fan either.
He’s said some very unpleasant stuff. It was an impressive win over Klitschko though.
Yeah, some of the things he has said have been disgusting.
I love boxing!
I have done kickboxing for a while when I was younger. It’s a good way to deal with anger issues.
Hugz ❤
That’s great. Imagine it’s great for fitness too.
