(narrating) Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80’s movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80’s movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life.
Congratulations to Emma Stone on her Oscar win for La La Land last week at the Oscars. Here she is in her breakthrough role playing Olive in the teen comedy Easy A (2010), which tells of a teen’s attempt to climb the social ladder backfiring spectacularly.
Great quote even Adam Goldberg would approve. My life totally resembles an 80’s movie, Friday the 13th. Haha
But I digress
Really fun movie. Emma Stone always shines.
Which one? There were like a dozen haha. I saw the movie knowing she was famous but you could imagine it even without the knowledge. Nice that she put her singing voice to good use in La La Land.
someone just recommended this to me. dont remember it at all 🙂
It’s more for a female demographic but I enjoyed it. Nice moral and some very funny scenes.
That’s really a great question: Who would you want directing the story of your life? My pick would be Ridley Scott–let there be aliens, and may I be awesome enough to kill them all.
Nice choice. I remember doing a blogathon post on best female icons. No suprise that Ripley was never dropped. Hitchcock would certainly be thrilling. David Lynch might be the one to avoid haha.
Love this quote Alex!💁🏻
That’s great. Which is your favourite John Hughes film btw?
Without a second thought its got to be Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. I love the movie, and I have to admit I had a small crush on Matthew Broderick.😊
I’d still like to be Ferris 😎
One of my favorite teen films! Emma Stone deserves her win. Such a talented and hilarious lady.
She is. The film wouldn’t work if she had been badly cast. In La La Land her chemistry works so well with Ryan Gosling. Especially in the 80s band scene.
ok, I guess I’ll have to watch La La Land now 🙂
I really think you’ll enjoy it 🙂
I love this movie so much! It was what changed my opinion on Emma Stone from ‘I like this actress’ to ‘OMG if Emma Stone is in this movie then I HAVE to see it’ 😀
I have such a soft spot for a good teen movie. And she’s such a star. Always really fun and engaging in interviews too.
I love this quote, such wit.
Really sets the tone for the film too. I’m pretty sure John Hughes would have loved this movie.
Yes, I’m certain he would have liked this sort of movie. It had that flavour of his work.
I love this quote, think it’s what we all secretly want!
Emmas win was very well deserved, loved La La Land, shame Ryan didn’t win as well.
Tough category. Denzel didn’t even win it and some people had him as the favourite. I should quote La La Land at some point 🙂
That’s true, not sure Casey should have won though
I am enjoying your blog so much. I am big fan of Movies and Easy A is my fave too. Thanks for sharing.
What kind words. Yes, such a good film. I’m looking forward to seeing Emma Stone in the Battle of the Sexes film.
Nice to know. Thank you.
