I looked out this morning and the sun was gone
Turned on some music to start my day
I lost myself in a familiar song
I closed my eyes and I slipped away
The opening lines of the hugely popular song More than A Feeling by Boston from their self-titled debut album. While Boston (1976) was a success (more details here) and the band’s output has sold 75m copies worldwide, you’ll struggle to find a catchier and toe-tapping riff.
Wow, what great timing for me to read a Boston lyric. I just got back from seeing Peter Berg’s tribute to the Boston Marathon bombing survivors.
Great song, great city!
That really was a tragedy. I saw a very inspiring article on one of the survivors, Kaitlynn Cates on tennis.com. She wasn’t a runner but was waiting near the finishing lines. What did you think of the film? I hope they did it justice.
And that really has one of the greatest riffs. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve whistled to it or sung along. No comment on the air guitar!
Thought the movie was okay, it was pretty typical Peter Berg but there’s nothing wrong with that but i’m starting to feel like with him, you’ve seen one you’ve kinda seen them all.
Yeah that song is probably the only one i’m really any good at on Guitar Hero hahaha
This whole album is a winner. Had it on vinyl and I actually think it was one of the first records I ever bought as a kid. In the first five at least!
I salute your good taste. My first album was by the Cranberries. I really liked the songs Dreams and Linger.
Love Boston!
A very cool band.
Great band and one of those catchy songs that stays in your head
For sure. Even made it to a Scrubs closing scene.
Nice. Actually heard it in the store the other day. I forgot to mention it
Great choice!
It’s funny. Boston and Chicago are named after the city they were founded in but Texas are as Scottish as Haggis.
More than a feeeeellllllling.
Totally!
This post just reminded me of my childhood. My dad had this album in the car and he would just play it on a loop anytime we would drive anywhere. It is his favorite album of all time. I haven’t listened to it since I was young, but now that you posted it I feel like I should, it will probably bring back some good memories.
That’s a wonderful memory. For me it’s the Beach Boys’ Greatest Hits.
My mum loves this song, it always reminds me of her.
It’s a great song to associate with her.
Definitely is.
One of Mr O and my favourites. You’ve reminded me that we need to play it for Little O. We often play him music and dance while he joins in from his Jumperoo.
