The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.
The opening lines of the fantastically enchanting debut novel The Night Circus (2011) by Erin Morgenstern. I was spoiled for choice for which line to use, but I like that even from the very beginning the uniqueness and mystery of the circus has been set. Something completely pivotal to the story.
It’s really sounds like a wonderful read. Beautiful cover too.
Don ‘t forget my wonderful photography and duvet 🙂
How could I forget with you around to remind me. Ha! Great book photography. I’d buy the book based on that photo alone
This and “Water For Elephants” are the two most famous novel written during NaNoWriMo. It’s my understanding this is being made into a movie, though I haven’t heard much about that.
I knew The Night Circus was written during that but didn’t know about Water for Elephants. It will be interesting to see who is involved behind the camera and which cast they use. I can certainly see Rachel McAdams involved.
Thanks for reminding me about this book. It was on my list but fell by the wayside. I will have to make it a 2017 read 🙂
I hope you get to read it. I bought it a few months ago but didn’t get a chance to read it until Christmas. I could have chosen several different lines. It really is that good.
I shall put it on my Goodreads list as a reminder, Alex. The plot got my attention a couple of years ago…a night circus…sounds so exciting. Thank you for the recommendation.
I really look forward to what you think 🙂
Really nice work on this. I’m totally following!
Thanks so much. I’ll have a check of yours soon.
Thanks
I really enjoyed this book. Would make a FANTASTIC movie. With the right director. : )
Anyone you have in mind for the main characters?
Hmm. It’s been too long since I read it so I’m not sure! Can’t remember descriptions & ages. : )
Loved The Night Circus. Good choice.
Thanks. It was one of those books I knew I’d love.
Loved this book!
It really was superb. So vivid. I so wanted to go to the circus and all the rooms. When did you read it?
I actually read it while I was at a Kung Fu retreat in Pai in Thailand, I found the book in a second hand bookstore there, read the first page and was captivated instantly. Memories of that book bring back feelings of magic and far away lands and excitement!
I bet the cover grabbed you too 🙂 It’s quite something.
I am so glad you enjoyed this so much!
I really did. I really hope the film does it justice.
This is truly one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. The electricity it stirred in me is what sparked my passion to write. I want to create for others what this book created for me.
It really is. I wish I could visit The Night Circus. What a magical and wonderful world. I wish you well with your writing.
