Another great quiz, Alex. I missed two — The Terminal and Captain Phillips. Did you consider putting in a still from “Punchline”?
I didn’t no. I haven’t seen it. Would you recommend it? Great score btw.
I think it’s one of his finest performances and a rare appearance for him as a difficult, unlikable character. And it’s about stand-up comedy — one of my favorite things on earth. So, yes, I do recommend it.
That sounds like a good reason to watch it for sure 🙂
14/15… cant believe I missed Splash 😦
Great quiz as always Alex!
Almost perfect Rob. Splash was a quirky movie for sure.
Not a fave of mine but truthfully I just mixed it up
10/15. I feel bad given how much I love this guy
He’s had some career. Do you have a favourite Tom Hanks film?
Toss-up between Forrest Gump and Apollo 13.
Both have two of cinema’s most famous lines too. And I still think of Bubba whenever I see or hear shrimp.
Aside from The Da Vinci Code, that’s an impressive list of movies. But I’ll forgive him anything because of Big 😀
He’s one of those actors that is always worth seeing. With only the very odd exception he chooses his roles so well. Big is such a delightful film. And I still want that floor keyboard 🙂
I got them all. He’s the modern-day version of Jimmy Stewart. No Saving Private Ryan, huh? A great actor, a fun quiz, Alex.
There was an article which described him as America’s Dad, which covers it well. I knew you’d do well on this one. I really did consider putting Saving Private Ryan in. But wanted a quiz that covered his whole career and couldn’t fit them all in. He had such a strong 90s period.
I remember in the early 00s I was of the opinion he was overrated. I couldn’t stand him. I think it was Castaway that made me change my mind. Since then, he’s good at playing older gentleman. No real outstanding performances, but we’ve grown up with him around us and he’s safe to watch. He is comfortable. I agree with the Dad reference.
He’s always radiated a warmth onscreen. I can’t imagine him playing a baddie. I wish he wouldn’t do those Dan Brown films mind.
Speaking of bad men, I loved him in Road to Perdition. 🙂
I’ve not seen it. Well spotted though 🙂 I’d forgotten that role. I bet the cinematography must have been astonishing. Conrad L Hall was so gifted. Can you see him playing a baddie in a film set in contemporary times?
Yes! Oh, my, Alex. Rent Road to Perdition. The score is fantastic. The story is great and I’m convinced you’d like it.
12 out of 15.
Among your best. I knew you’d do well 🙂
Thanks Takes a bow. Ha.
14 out of 15…The Money Pit tripped me up! 😉
Almost perfect. Very impressive.
14 out of 15. I thought the first one was “Joe Versus The Volcanoe.”
I can see why you thought that. Superb score.
13- Didn’t get Splash or Money Pit. One of my (and everyone else’s) favourite actors. Bridge of Spies was an exceptional recent film of his!
Those were two of the toughest ones. He’s had some collection. I’ve been meaning to see Bridge of Spies.
Except for the last one, I got them all correct!!
Forrest Gump (1994) is my all time favourite Tom Hanks movie!!
Impressive stuff. Especially as the earlier ones were tricky.
Good quiz. The easiest for me was Sleepless in Seattle, but I could not name number 2! I don’t even know this movie, never heard of it 😦
It’s a fun comedy. But not one of his better known ones for sure.
