Stevie: OK, fast excuse. Let’s workshop this. A family member is dying.
Miranda: Not really going to work on my family.
Stevie: You’re working.
Miranda: It’s got to be something she’d believe!
Stevie: You’re doing a gym class.
Miranda: Something she’d believe!
Stevie: You’ve joined Weight Watchers.
Miranda: Something she’d believe!
Stevie: You’ve got a date.
Miranda: It’s got to be something she’d believe!

Sarah Hadland and Miranda Hart in the sitcom Miranda (2009 – 2015), which tells of a 30 something’s hilarious struggle to settle down and keep her interfering mother happy. You can find another example of the humour revolving around its wacky central character here.

      • Ooh that would be nice! It’s a funny show, all down to Miranda herself, the way she falls about and gets into scrapes. Reminiscent of Keeping Up Appearances albeit different sense of humour!

      • I really like how she talks to the camera too. When the fourth wall is broken well, it’s always so effective. The one where her dress rips out of the taxi is my favourite slapstick moment. The mother is a bit like Hyacynth now I think about it.

      • Yes! That’s always so funny. And I remember the dress ripping on the taxi SO well! I love the way she falls about and is clumsy, just cracks me up!
