Don’t you realize? The next time you see sky, it’ll be over another town. The next time you take a test, it’ll be in some other school. Our parents, they want the best of stuff for us. But right now, they got to do what’s right for them. Because it’s their time. Their time! Up there! Down here, it’s our time. It’s our time down here. That’s all over the second we ride up Troy’s bucket.
Mikey (Sean Astin) in the comedy treasure hunt adventure The Goonies (1985). If you like adventurous children’s films, you might be interested in this.
Great movie. We’ve introduced it to our kids.
🙂 Have you been tempted to hide treasure in the basement?
This old house doesn’t have a basement. Stone foundation and just enough crawl space for a small snake to get through. 😃
Probably just as well ha. There are plenty of horror films that have something suspicious beneath the house.
The previous house we owned had a cellar. It always freaked me out a bit. When I’d be down there doing laundry, it always felt like someone was behind me. I don’t miss it. 😃
Hope the wind never closed the door behind you or that would have given you a massive shock!
No, but we used get crickets down there, big ones that resemble spiders. When one of those would jump on me I’d freak for a second! It’s the Boogie Man! Oh, just a cricket. Whew! 😃
Never saw this film, though I’ve heard of it? Is it really any good? Worth watching?
It’s a fun film. If you can get into the spirit of the film you should enjoy it.
I can’t wait until the twins are a little older and I can watch this one with them.
That’ll be a great memory 🙂 Were you the type of child that was looking for hidden trapdoors and secret passageways?
Yep!
I tried to watch this for the first time as an adult and just totally didn’t get it.
😦 But it’s so fun and adventurous.
How I love this movie.
Yeah, it’s one of those films that just has a great escapist charm and puts you in a good mood whenever you see it 🙂
I couldn’t have put it better myself.
Thanks Vinnie 🙂
No problem Alex.
My kids are 30, 34 and soon to be 36. All loved the “Goonies,” “Stand By Me” and “Don’t tell Mom the Babysitters Dead!” I watched them over and over on VHS, Alex.
Have a fantastic week! 🙂
I’ve never seen the babysitter one. A great title though! In terms of the 80s one I have a huge soft spot I’d also add Back to the Future, Weekend at Bernie’s and The Lost Boys.
