My car is limping, Dolores Haze,
And the last long lap is the hardest,
And I shall be dumped where the weed decays,
And the rest is rust and stardust.
The hugely controversial book Lolita (1955) by Russia author Vladimir Nabokov. Widely considered one of literature’s finest novels, its provocative subject matter also provided heated debate as to whether it should be widely released. My thanks to the very lovely Nicola for reminding me of it.
I’ve read all about how controversial this book is. I swear I have a copy of the movie somewhere.
The Kubrick one or the more modern one?
The Kubrick one, as I recently purchased a box set of his movies as I’m woefully behind on watching his stuff.
That’s one of the few of his I’ve not seen. You’re in for a treat 🙂 I look forward especially to your thoughts on Paths of Glory.
It may take a while to get around to watching the box set as I’ve got so many other things to watch. But I’ll be sure to let you know my thoughts on them when I get to them.
This was an excellent movie
It’s certainly an excellent story.
LOVE IT!
🙂 It would be interesting to see how the book would be received if it was published today.
I have never read this :O
What are you reading at the moment?
Such a lovely post Alex. It warmed my heart, thank you 😄
I’m really happy you liked it 🙂
This is on my seemingly endless to-read list.
Let me know what you think of it if you do 🙂
