Film Quizzes: Prison

After my recent visit to Kilmainham Gaol I was intrigued about what prison films were out there. There are certainly some high-profile ones. How many can you work out? And yes, the fourth one may be obvious, but there’s no way I couldn’t include it. As always your thoughts and scores are always welcome.

Nice one! I’m impressed you got the last one. Because it’s set in a military prison, it’s not usually one people think of.

The Last Castle is a very good and sadly under-rated film. James Gandolfini is brilliant and more than holds his own against Redford.

I saw him interviewed in The Actor’s Studio. He was clearly quite introspective and extremely modest about his talents.

Five out of six. I would have got them all but I have not seen The Last Castle and therefore didn’t recognize it right off.

Still an impressive score. It was a tricky one. There were a few others I thought of putting in. Jailhouse Rock and Mean Machine were two of them. I’m not sure Con Air would have counted as it takes place on a plane.

I haven’t seen the Last Castle, but the others are a fine examples. Papillion is one of my favorite all time films.

It’s not a common genre really, though there are more than you would think, especially if you extend it to prisoner of war camp films.
