Taken at the Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin. The place has a notorious history as many Irish revolutionaries, including the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, were imprisoned and executed here.

This has a great historical meaning to the place. The Gaol is like a serious prison, right? It looks rather scary and I would not necessarily wish to go inside there.
It sure wasn’t Butlins! It was a serious prison, now it’s a museum and a sobering reminder of the suffering behind what led to the split between Ireland.
Sounds like this place has a hell of amount of history.
It really does. The tour guides take it extremely seriously and you can’t go unaided. It closed in 1924 but had some of the most famous political prisoners around.
Fascinating stuff.
I missed this when I was in Dublin–would really like to see it next time!
They’re carrying out some major building works so it will be even better if you are able to go next year.
Great shot, Alex Raphael.
Thanks for sharing 🙂

Happy you enjoyed it 🙂
What once was a place of cruelty and suffering now looks almost like a romantic get-away. Great choice of perspective.
You have such a different way of looking at things 🙂
