Lee: How old are you exactly?
Lucy: How old do you think?
Lee: No chance!
Lucy: It’s a simple question.
Lee: What, like, how heavy do you think I am?
Lucy: There’s a difference. I wasn’t expecting the answer in tonnage. Come on, guess.
Lee: I’m never going to get it exactly right.
Lucy: I’ll let you get it within two years.
Lee: Alright, I’ll get back to you then.
Lee Mack and Sally Bretton in the slacker sitcom Not Going Out (2006 – Present)
I love Not Going Out. I imagine it must have been exhausting to write because the script is almost entirely:
One line set up
Gag
One line set up
Gag
Repeat.
So difficult to get right!
I was wondering if there were any other fans of the show on the bloggersphere. No surprise that Lee Mack is a stand up comedian. Tim Vine too. Imagine having a cleaner like Miranda’s character?
I always think the actress who plays Daisy is the unsung hero of the show. Delivering some of her lines with a straight face must have been near impossible.
I know! One of my favourite of hers is when she labels the sugar jar as salt to confuse the ants haha.
