John Watson: “A place like this must be expensive.”
Sherlock Holmes: “Not really. I know the landlady, Mrs. Hudson. She owes me a favour. A few years back, her husband was sentenced to death in Florida. I was able to help out.”
John Watson: “You stopped her husband from being executed?”
Sherlock Holmes: “Oh, no, I ensured it.”
Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock, a modern retelling of Sherlock Holmes. A huge critical and commercial success, Sherlock (2010 – ) is shown in 200 countries and has won countless awards, including seven Emmys.
Hahaha! LOVE this Alex!
You a fan of the show?
I’m completely ADDICTED!
As soon as I saw that line I just had to put it in. Can you ever work out any parts of the mysteries? Did you guess much right for how he managed his fall?
I’m really bad with the guessing. I’ve only watched the three seasons one time and since I have them all on DVD, I think I’m going to binge watch them again some rainy day weekend. Especially since I’ve heard that we won’t be seeing Season 4 until 2017, Grr.😡 Thank God they’re giving us the upcoming Christmas special!
I know. Seems so long to wait. But no doubt it will be worth it.
Great line! Love Sherlock. It’s the best show on TV right now. Or should I say, the best show on TV every couple of years for a month or so.
Ha! I wish there were more too. They must takes ages to write and film though. I watch all the extras on the DVD and it’s obvious how much effort they go into for each episode. Is the wedding scene your favourite bit?
Yeah, every ep is like a standalone film, so I’m not too mad at them if they keep delivering the same quality. Yes, that wedding scene is brilliant! That was the one that convinced me to start watching the series. I stumbled upon it one day while zapping through channels
It really is a pleasure to see them. The Christmas episode should be wonderful.
Omg I’m in love with this series.. Amazing episodes and oh I love the duo of Sherlock n Watson. Not forget I’m a big fan of Benedict Cumberbatch. On third season already, only 3left and I don’t want it to be finished😁
Have you read the stories too? I love counting the references. All the epsiodes blow me away, especially the Irene Adler episode. So glad Mycroft is a regular character too.
Oh well yes, that one was great The Woman. I’m not happy with Mycroft right now, he pushed Sherlock off the edge, literally lol
I can’t wait for you to catch up so I can talk to you more about it.
Alright I will announce when I’m done😃
Alright, Mycroft is a nice man and I do appreciate their sibling rivalries. It was so much fun.. Now waiting for S4 in 2017, gosh that’s far. I dont want Moriarity to come back, so annoying he is. Guess a good actor as his character is very repelling.
You’ve caught up already! That was super quick. I loved the actor who played the blackmailing villain.
Oh yes he was short lived but better than the other one. And I was hooked, each day at least one episode. They should have made a few more than three.
I really have no idea how many more they will do. The two creators and writers are huge fans and they describe it as a labour of love, so hopefully loads more.
Cool, I heard Benedict might have full calendar and step out. That would not be good. At least his name is there for next season, its a relief so far;)
I do hope he stays on for a while.
I have so much love for Sherlock :’) Great quote!
Thanks. It’s such a superb insight into Sherlock and indeed Mrs Hudson. It’s really true how the creators say that we are watching Sherlock Holmes as the Victorians would have done so originally.Have you read the stories too?
I have! I love them 🙂
The 5 Orange Pips is one of my favourite. I love what they did with it in the series. I wonder if they will do the red-headed league. Anything you’re looking out for?
Ugh – so good!! And not really…I think they’ve already covered my favourites! 🙂
I like Benedict Cumberbatch especially well as Sherlock. He fid a fine performance in the movie where he best th he Enigma Machine.
I also like Jonny Lee Miller with Lucy Liu in the regular channel, mainstream TV version.
Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law go dynamic and action figures with the two films they played Dr. Watson and Holmes.
He really is a wonderful actor. So fantastic as Alan Turing too. He’s in Hamlet at the moment. I haven’t seen the Lee Miller one. How different is the portrayal? is it set in new York?
I loved this scene.! Haha
It’s so brilliantly sharp. Have you seen them all?
Yes I have!
They are so wonderful. So many memorable scenes and clever storylines. The two leads are especially superb.
They are! And I loved Mrs Hudson and Moriarty’s characters too
I get how Mycroft is so aloof, but I did like the line he said to Sherlock when he was drugged up, about his heart would break if something happened to him. Does go the lengths he has to go to to say something nice to Sherlock mind haha.
Oh yeah.
Heehee! Great line! I’m yet to watch the show, but I’m keen to get into it.
You’ll love it.
This is one of my favorite shows – everything works so well.
Flawless TV, pretty much.
