William Wilberforce: No one of our age has ever taken power.
Pitt the Younger: Which is why we’re too young to realize certain things are impossible. Which is why we will do them anyway.
Ioan Gruffudd and Benedict Cumberbatch in the film Amazing Grace (2006). The biopic told of William Wilberforce’s heroic but ultimately successful struggle to ban slavery in Britain.
One more movie I wanted to see but completely fell off the radar.
I wanted to see it at the cinema when it came out, but it doesn’t lose anything on the small screen. A really inspiring story.
I’ve added it to my list again. I like rediscovering films that slipped past me. I love you ideas for posts.
Thanks so much ๐
Such an excellent film!
A really inspiring story. A big fan of Romola Garai too. Do you watch Sherlock? Funny to think such a big gap between the show and this film when Cumberbatch is so talented.
on my list!
Let me know what you think. What’s the last film you saw?
an older film- Missing with Jack Lemmon- about the involvement of the US in S. American military coups!! ๐
Hope you liked it. Seen quite a few Jack Lemmon films, but not that one. He proved in Glengarry Glenn Ross how superb he was as drama too.
I must see the film too, especially as WW is an ancestor of mine!
Really? That’s amazing. When did you first find out?
During my childhood. I did once know how we come down from his family but have forgotten it all! He’s on my mother’s side.
