Marty: “Didn’t you tell me one time, dinner once, maybe, about how you used to … you used to make up stories about the stars?”
Rust: “Yeah, that was in Alaska, under the night skies.”
Marty: “Yeah, you used to lay there and look up, at the stars?”
Rust: “Yeah, I think you remember how I never watched the TV until I was 17, so there wasn’t much to do up there but walk around, explore, and…”
Marty: “And look up at the stars and make up stories. Like what?”
Rust: “I tell you Marty I been up in that room looking out those windows every night here just thinking, it’s just one story. The oldest.”
Marty: “What’s that?”
Rust: “Light versus dark.”
Marty: “Well, I know we ain’t in Alaska, but it appears to me that the dark has a lot more territory.”
Rust: “Yeah, you’re right about that.”
[One scene later]
Rust: “You’re looking at it wrong, the sky thing.”
Marty: “How’s that?”
Rust: “Well, once there was only dark. You ask me, the light’s winning.”
This is one of the best moments of the series! I loved it.
Thank you for sharing 🙂
I always keep Line(s) of the Day to one scene, but just had to make an exception. The dialogue and concept is so brilliant.
I know a lot of people who hated the ending of TD but I loved it. A little glimmer of hope…..
Why would they hate it?
Some I know didn’t like that it was a ‘happy’ ending given the nature of the show. They wanted more of a twist…
I guess you can’t please everyone.
Have you seen the Tumblr where someone took scenes from “Family Circus” and put lines from “True Detective” to them?
No. No idea it even existed.

Thanks. How did you even hear of it?
I saw it on Gawker a while back.
I miss True Detective ❤
I will try and be positive and focus on other TV shows. Gotham is out tonight 🙂
What an incredible season of television!
Adam.
Astonishing. What else are you watching at the moment?
Far too much Alex! Haha. The Walking Dead, Homeland, Arrow, American Horror Story, The Blacklist, Under The Dome. I’ve got The Strain and The Leftovers ready to go too, and I’ll be watching The Flash and Gotham!
My eyes hurt thinking about all of that.
Some very nice programmes in that list. I did used to watch Homeland but didn’t like the third series much. Arrow is great. I can’t wait for The Flash and Gotham either. Any comedy you’re into?
The third series did get a bit repetitive, but the fourth seems to have freshened things up a bit! Don’t watch as much comedy Alex – Modern Family is probably the main one. I tend towards panel shows for laughs. I have been watching Chuck on Netflix though, which is really funny!
Modern Family is very funny. Which character makes you laugh most? I said after the third season I was give up on Homeland but the reviews for the fourth series opener have been great so I might well go back to it.
Gotta go with Phil! Haha, Ty Burrell is so on point. They’re all great through, it’s a tremendous ensemble. What about yourself? Yeah you should check out the first episode, I really enjoyed it.
