Lauren Bacall was always more than an actress. A style icon with a mysterious and elegant aura, Bacall had the acting talent to match her attitude of being unafraid of formidable Hollywood bosses. In tribute to her sad passing last week, here in chronological order are six of her most memorable films. See how many of them you can work out.
I know that a man ain’t supposed to cry, but these tears I can’t hold inside. Losin’ you would end my life you see, cause you mean that much to me. You could have told me yourself that you love someone else.
Lyrics from ‘I heard it through the Grapevine’ from the iconic Motown star Marvin Gaye, from his 1968 album In the Groove
I love photography, especially when it covers parts of the world I’ve never seen. It’s something I’ve always been drawn to and relish the opportunity to see any quality exhibition where a wide range of creative talent is on show. So when I saw that the Travel Photographer of the Year was on show in South Kensington West London, and I wanted to introduce you to it and share my impression.
This is dreadfully sad to write. I’ve read a lot of wonderful tributes to a man who could do pretty much anything on screen. From as long as I can remember watching films seriously, Robin Williams was always there. Whether he was playing an inspirational professor, a devoted father posing as a British nanny, a rebellious DJ or two very different Presidents of the USA, Williams could bring anybody to life with warmth, energy and compassion. And that’s without saying how funny he was, or how his range even extended to playing sinister and creepy villains. The world will miss both his outrageous acting talent and wonderful nature off it.
Below are 12 different Robin Williams images from different films that capture his incredible ability. I wanted this tribute to be all in one post and Limiting it to six just wasn’t an option. Unlike with the other film quizzes in this set, there are no difficult photographs. It is really more about looking back on a wonderful career.
There’s been some torrential rain here in London so umbrellas were at the ready. Nothing too extreme though. Which is more than can be said for the six films below. See if you can correctly work out the films where a natural disaster is the catalyst for the actions of the characters.
