With films like Fargo, Silence of the Lambs, Friday Night Lights and Psycho proving such a success in TV adaptations, I thought I’d do a quiz that celebrates the reverse. Below are six films in chronological order that were inspired by TV shows. I’m always interested in how you do, so please feel to volunteer you score and your thought on any of the films.

1. The Untouchables (1987)
2. Naked Gun (1998) – Adapted from: Police Squad!
3. The Fugitive (1993)
4. The X-Files (1998)
5. Starsky and Hutch (2004)
6. The Inbetweeners (2011)
The nice thing about living in Chicago is being able to go to a lot of the places where you see the scenes in the movies. For “The Untouchables,” I’ve taken people to the stairs where the shoot out in the train station took place. I’ve also walked them across the street where The Untouchables go to make their first bust–which, by the way, is also where Jim Gordon “died” saving Harvey Dent, and where Batman flipped the truck The Joker was driving. Oh, and the outside of the toy store in “Home Alone 2”.
Nice film history 🙂 Ferris Bueller’s Day Off was filmed there too wasn’t it?
Up in the north suburbs; same with “Home Alone”, where the house just went on the market a couple of months ago for $8 million. And parts were done downtown, too, and on the near south side.
Ooops only 2/6. The Inbetweeners never should have made it off the small screen.
I didn’t mind the film, but then I wasn’t as thrilled with the third series as the previous two. Still a great show though. There’ll be second one coming out at the end of the year.
I agree with Abbi. I knew most of them. Fun post! 🙂
Thanks. Thought I’d do a quirkier one. Do you have a favourite of the six?
Sorry, that’s where I agreed with Abbi. Didn’t like the Inbetweeners. 😉
No worries. It’s not a comedy for everyone by any means.
5/6! For some reason I couldn’t pick the X-Files one even though I love and adore that show. Rookie mistake!
I never saw the second film. The X-Files was the first show I remember staying up late for. Such a seminal show though I remember the wheels coming off a bit towards the end.
Definitely. I rewatched it all recently and the first 75% was amazing. Then it started going a bit downhill. Still love it though!
Whoops! 2/6–X-Files and Naked Gun. Lol. 🙂
Naked Gun is the funniest trilogy ever! So much slapstick brilliance.
