Reading what happened to some of those featured in the video is very sobering. Even without that though, is still a very powerful song. Do you have a favourite song of a one-hit wonder?
Runaway Train would be close to the top of the list. So would The Proclaimers “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” probably. But there are so many that I can’t even remember right now that I hesitate to make any firm statements. 🙂
You?
When I get the time I’ll do a Gr8at on it, but Two Princes by Spin Doctors, The Promise by When in Rome and The One and Only by Chesney Hawkes will be in it. The second one I only heard about because it was used in Napoleon Dynamite. Films like that and Eagle versus Shark almost belong in their own genre.
Amen on those films. And Two Princes is certainly one of my favorites, as well. Such a great song.
Loved the video too. Such a fun vibe. It always amazes me how people can write one great song and not come close again. The two hit wonders are a curious group too.
They certainly are. Sometimes I wonder if it says more about the audience than the artist. That once we hear one super catchy song, we expect everything to sound just like it and are disappointed when it doesn’t.
True, but there are so many artists who don’t get known for just the one. They say everyone has a book in them, maybe the same is true of songs sometimes. Not everyone has a back catalogue like Queen ha.
Thank goodness. The world couldn’t handle that much music. 🙂
You should check out Misery and Somebody to Shove.
Will do 🙂
Now I am 64…and it does seem that I have not changed much about ME since I was young…I was so hurried to becoming, I forgot my being, and NOW I am have returned to BEING….this song says it all
Wow, I had forgotten about this song. Good one!
The video is so moving too.
Their sixth album.
And the only one that matters. 🙂

Favorite song of a one-hit wonder? Ever.

what a great video for this song.
The first time I heard the song I saw the video with it, so the two are engrained for me. Really takes me back to the 90s.
yep, you now have me playing the song ion my head. think I’m gonna look for the video 🙂
wow, just re-watched the video. The lip synching is terrible, but I forgot how sad the song )and video) really are.
I wonder how many of those kids were eventually found
Not enough 😦
I love this band!
What other songs of theirs do you recommend?

It is a very sad song. 64 is a great Beatles age 🙂
