Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
Gifted American writer Henry James, best known for his works ‘The Portrait of a Lady’, ‘The Wings of the Dove’ and my favourite novel ‘The Bostonians’ (1843 – 1916).
Very lovely words indeed! 🙂
I’m hoping the sun will come out in the afternoon 🙂
Really like this quote.
I only just discovered it. Reading it, I just want to get some Crabbies ginger beer and read the paper while having an outdoor picnic.
Normally, summer is my least favorite season. But right now, after this winter, I find I basically agree. 🙂
It’s all about the Autumn boys (it is a coincidence I was born in that season of course)
I love Henry James. One of the coming Thursdays I will post a picture of Kate Croy as I have seen her 😀
You’ve read him? Which ones? And I’ll look out for the photo for sure.
Sorry I did not answer sooner.. I read The Portrait of the Lady, and the Wings of the Dove, but it was a while ago. Today I saw (not read) the Golden bowl:)
I’ve read… none of those. I’ve read The Bostonians, Washington Square and The Europeans though.
