Fresh Prince

I’ve got a few questions for you. When you got this alleged confession from these two young men, did they have a lawyer present? No, because I’m their lawyer. Did you notify their parents? No, because we’re their parents. So, officer, don’t tell us to wait and don’t tell us to sit down. Just open that damn cell and let those two boys out of there or I’m going to tie this place up with so much litigation that your GRANDCHILDREN ARE GONNA NEED LAWYERS!

    • It’s not a funny quote for what was a comedy, but the quote really gets across how much presence Avery had on screen. His battles with Will were always my favourite scenes. Well and him throwing out Jazz of the house πŸ˜‰

      • I enjoyed the serious episodes too. When Val becomes a teacher for Black History Month is a great episode, but the scene when Will’s dad comes back…

      • That sure is an understatement! Ha.

The episode I talk about (without giving too much away) is that Val becomes a student at Carlton and Will’s school after he complains that they never talk about black people in American history. It ends with this powerful dialogue

Vivian: Will, why did you want to take a class in black history?
Will: Because I’m interested in it.
        Vivian: Are you really?
Will: Hey, I read the autobiography of Malcolm X like three times.
Vivian: And that makes you interested?
Will: That’s a very important book.
Vivian: Will, you can read the book, you can wear the shirt, you can even shout out the slogans, but unless you know ALL the history behind it, you’re trivializing the entire struggle. Now you started something very good. Now it’s up to you to finish it

    • There are funnier ones from the show I’ll put up another time, but I remember seeing this bit and it felt like the walls would shake. I saw TMNT at the cinema and he had a wonderful voice.
